|Manfred Obbiettivo started in the 1960’s with two concrete trucks subcontracting to Direct Mix. He started his own earthmoving business called Mantina Earthmovers (this was named by using Man from his Christian name and Tina from his wife).|
The business was based at Norwood and expanded to a large business employing up to 25 staff. Manfred worked extremely hard to establish the business and gain a credible reputation in South Australia and Northern Territory.
Whilst establishing the business he took all opportunities available and subsequently worked on a wide range of unusual jobs, including railway turntable pits, stormwater drains, large concrete projects, and Electrical Sub Stations. During this period Manfred was eagerly coaching coaxing two of his sons, Rino and Jason, to become involved in the business.
In the early 1980’s they moved the business to Pooraka and in 1987 opened a Concrete Plant. The Concrete Plant became Manfred’s main business and with the business growing the decision to open a quarry was decided and after considerable time and money the quarry at Kapunda was opened in 1990.
|Manfred spent most of his time in Kapunda developing and establishing the quarry whilst his wife Tina and the four children lived in Burnside. At this time the two boys Rino and Jason were managing the Pooraka Concrete plant. In 2003 Manfred lost his battle with cancer, he was a hard worker who took a gamble and followed his heart, his last years were spent doing what he loved, Working his own quarry.|
Rino took the running of the quarry and Jason runs the Concrete Plant at Pooraka, between the two boys and with Tina still active in the business. Mantina Quarries Concrete Supply is steadily growing.
Our fleet has steadily grown and now comprises 12 Tipper combinations, 17 Concrete Agitator combinations and 2 Bulk Tankers; the fleet has gone under a modernisation programme in the past 2 years and consist of predominately Mack trucks.
There is a third generation of “Obbiettivo’s” and both Rino and Jason hope that they will carry on with the same love and passion that Rino and Jason have.
